UNDATED - A section of the Appalachian Trail in northeast Georgia reportedly has been closed to campers because of "bear activity."

The Georgian Appalachian Trail Club Web site says the part of the trail affected is between Neels Gap to Tesnatee Gap.

The Appalachian Trail Website says "a problem bear has been reported at Wolf Laurel Top, a popular camping spot 3.4 miles north of Neels Gap. It is recommended that hikers avoid camping at this location until the situation is resolved."

The trail is not, however, closed to hiking activity.
